What is Ignatia?
Ignatia is used in homeopathy for nerve-related disorders and upsets as well as for complaints caused by emotional stress.
The nickname “means of contradictions” characterizes both the area of application and the typical Ignatius person: suppressed anger, repressed grief and disappointment trigger mental, psychological and physical exhaustion. Positive and negative sensations alternate in rapid succession, but cannot be shown and trigger contradictory symptoms. Thus, feeling cold increases thirst, nausea is relieved by eating, and grief is increased by comfort.

Application information
Presentation of Ignatia
Ignatia is offered in potencies 6X – 12X; Potencies up to and including 3D require a prescription due to the alkaloids strychnine and brucine.
Ignatia dosage
In the case of severe psychological symptoms or acute psychological trauma, up to twelve globules or twenty drops of Ignatia D12 are given every hour. As soon as improvement occurs, the dose is initially reduced to five globules or drops three times a day, then to three globules three times a day.
Lighter mood swings are counteracted with three times five globules D6 or D12.
Heartburn and cravings are treated with Ignatia D6. If necessary, take five globules. In the case of very severe symptoms, three globules can be given every hour until the symptoms improve.
Ignatia effect
Ignatia acts on the central nervous system, the mind, the muscles and the gastrointestinal tract.
Ignatia in pregnancy
Ignatia can be given for constant acid cravings and heartburn. Mainly, however, Ignatia is indicated for severe mood swings during pregnancy. It is suitable for nervous pregnant women prone to depression, anxiety and hysteria. There is an emotional state of shock when there is a risk of a miscarriage due to an unstable psyche.
Ignatia for the baby
Ignatia helps nervous, restless and skittish babies. They are hypersensitive to noise. During the day they startle at a loud noise and are difficult to calm down. At night, they startle themselves at the slightest sound and can hardly sleep again. The remedy helps babies who suffer from severe hiccups after drinking. Hiccups are particularly bad after lunch.
Ignatia babies experience a difficult teething period with vomiting, diarrhea and cramps.
The remedy is helpful for childhood dry coughs, which get worse the longer the baby coughs.
Ignatia may also be indicated when a child feels abandoned by their parents when a sibling is born. The children are subject to great mood swings and react hysterically. They cry loudly and cannot be comforted. They get very angry when corrected.
Ignatia for horse, dog and cat
Ignatia is a helpful remedy for animals when mental health issues are at the forefront. The loss of a caregiver or familiar surroundings can lead to Ignatia animals withdrawing completely and not being comforted.
The feeling of a lump in the throat also seems to be observed in the animals. The animals stretch their necks out and seem to constantly want to swallow something. If this behavior is observed, Ignatia can be helpful.
Side Effects of Ignatia
No side effects have been recorded, so that Ignatia can also be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding if the symptoms are appropriate.
