The most common application is the homeopathic remedy Nux moschata against inflammation, abscesses and suppuration. Furthermore, typical nutmeg patients suffer from flatulence, colic, diarrhea or indigestion.
When there is complete lack of thirst, the mucous membranes, skin, mouth and throat are dry; the menses are irregular and painful. Excessive sleepiness and a tendency to faint are striking.

In homeopathy, nutmeg is known as a “hysterical old woman’s remedy”. The patients’ demeanor is corresponding: They are dreamy, clairvoyant and tend to laugh at everything. Severe mood swings result in rapid alternation of laughter and crying. Nux moschata often thinks it has two heads or consists of two different people watching each other. In everyday life she appears dazed and experiences her surroundings as changed; the saliva appears to be of cotton wool. Even children develop spasms and hysterical suffering.
