What is sanguinaria?
Sanguinaria is a right-sided homeopathic remedy that primarily targets the respiratory tract and mucous membranes. It is therefore preferably used against colds, coughs and catarrhs or after an already overcome flu.
The diseases mentioned are characterized by foul-smelling breath or sputum and often result in diarrhea.
Another major area of application for Sanguinaria is the female menopause or the associated symptoms such as hot flashes or migraines.
While sweets, lying on the right side, and movement or touch aggravate the condition, eating acidic food and drink, sleeping, or being in the dark improves the condition.

How do you recognize patients who need sanguinaria?
Much like the sap exuding from the root, typical sanguinaria patients have “blood surging.” They are impatient, excitable, and easily angered individuals with a frequently hot, red face and palms or soles that are perceived as “burning”. The most conspicuous features are pain that begins at the back of the head, neck or shoulder, spreads over the entire head and settles over the right eye, or a cold caused by the scent of roses.

Application information
Dosage forms of sanguinaria
Sanguinaria is usually administered in preparations with potencies between 6X and 12X.
Sanguinaria dosage
To treat pain, five globules of Sanguinaria D12 are given in the morning and five in the evening.
Ear problems are treated with 5 pellets of Sanguinaria D6 three times a day.
In the case of acute symptoms, the remedy may be given in addition to three globules every three hours.
For gynecological complaints, three to five globules D6 or D12 are given twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening.
Three doses of Sanguinaria D12 in the morning, at noon and in the evening are indicated for skin diseases.
If one wishes to treat indigestion with Sanguinaria, the other symptoms of the presentation or the possible uses must be taken into account in order to be able to determine the appropriate potency, dosage and duration of use.
Sanguinaria effect
Sanguinaria acts on the respiratory tract, the musculoskeletal system and the stomach.
Sanguinaria in pregnancy
Sanguinaria should only be used during pregnancy after expert advice. Since the raw material has a stimulating effect on the uterus, improper use could trigger premature labor. If there is a clear indication and under the supervision of a doctor or homeopath, Sanguinaria is occasionally used in cases of imminent miscarriage and pain when the ligament is stretched.
Sanguinaria for the baby
Sanguinaria is often given for chronic colds in babies. The nasal mucous membranes are dry. The nose is stuffed up, making it difficult to breastfeed. If a dry and persistent cough persists after a cold, sanguinaria is often given. The children also suffer from headaches and have a noticeably reddened face.
Sanguinaria for dogs, horses and cats
Sanguinaria is given to animals suffering from a persistent cough. This improves noticeably after the flatulence has gone. The mucous membranes are very dry overall and the paws are burning hot.
Side Effects of Sanguinaria
Sensitive patients may react to very low potencies with nausea and retching. Furthermore, other symptoms described in the appearance may occur more frequently in the short term.
Typical potencies: Sanguinaria is commonly used in potencies 12X, 12C, 30C and 200C.
