Application information
Dosage forms of Spongia
Potencies from D2 to D6 are given orally, ampoules from D4. D12 is used for hyperthyroidism and D2 for goitre. Attention must be paid to iodine hypersensitivity.
Spongia dosage
Spongia is given three times a day with five globules D6 or D12, alternatively with three tablets D6 distributed throughout the day, preferably dissolved in water. If the symptoms are acute, an additional dose of three globules or half a tablet can be given every hour until the symptoms improve.
In high potency (C30), the remedy should only be administered in consultation with a homeopath, especially in thyroid patients.
Spangia effect
Spongia acts on the respiratory system, the thyroid gland and the heart.
Spongia during pregnancy
Spongia helps with inflammation of the larynx, throat problems, hoarseness and a dry, irritating cough that occurs mainly at night. However, if an enlargement of the thyroid gland triggers the cough, the drug should not be taken during pregnancy without professional advice. Otherwise, Spongia can be used throughout pregnancy if the symptoms match.
Spongia for the baby
Spongia is a proven remedy for treating nighttime coughing fits in babies. The cough typically occurs when lying down and lasts until midnight. When breathing, a whistling sound can be heard and the babies gasp because they can’t get enough air. Warm drinks relieve the symptoms.
Spongia in dogs, horses and cats
Homeopathic Spongia can be useful in treating coughs in animals. The cough is dry and barking. Warm food and drinks relieve the symptoms, while cold and cold wind aggravate the cough. The animals can be extremely fearful. You wake up from your sleep by coughing.
Spongia may be indicated in kennel cough and in cough that occurs as an accompaniment to heart disease.
Side Effects of Spongia
With the exception of a possible initial aggravation, no side effects to Spongia are known. Other medicines are not negatively influenced in their effect. Spongia can also be administered as a supplement to conventional medical preparations. If the symptoms worsen for more than a few hours, the drug should be discontinued.
