Description of Argentum Nitricum
Argentum Nitricum is silver nitrate, that is, it is the silver salt of nitric acid. At room temperature it appears as a colorless crystalline powder very soluble in water.
In medicine and veterinary medicine it is used to cauterize infected wounds , where it assumes the well-known form of infernal stone or lunar caustic (silver nitrate melted with other salts and cast in the form of white or greyish sticks or cones).
The homeopathic remedy Argentum nitricum is obtained by triturating silver nitrate with lactose and subsequent dilutions / dynamizations in a hydroalcoholic solution.
When using Argentum Nitricum
Argentum Nitricum remedy acts on the nervous system and mucous membranes; being a caustic, it causes irritation and ulceration of the mucous membranes which can sometimes bleed.
The remedy is very effective in nervous system disorders and in particular in epilepsy, when a few days before the crisis the pupils begin to dilate and in convulsions preceded by great agitation. Argentum nitricum is also an excellent remedy for the mental sphere.
Argentum nitricum is mainly used in these cases:
- gastritis, i.e. inflammation of the gastric mucosa, gastric ulcer. Symptoms are: aerophagia with loud, violent and burning eructations. Emotic diarrhea. The remedy is also used in cases of infant diarrhea during teething.
- disorders of the nervous system accompanied by dizziness, tremors of the hands and lower limbs, convulsions, paresis, loss of notion of time and space, lack of nervous and muscular coordination, in epilepsy for example and stammering, with aggravation at night or in the morning upon awakening. Even in cases where the subject is agitated during sleep and has jerks or anxiety before examination

Dosage and administration
In the case of gastrointestinal disorders, dilution 30CH, 2 – 3 granules 3 times a day. Start the treatment 2 – 3 days before the event. In the absence of a specific event and therefore of a particular emotional situation, dilution 4CH, 3 granules initially every 3 hours.
For gastritis and gastric ulcer, dilution D4 – D6, 3 granules or 5 – 10 drops every 1 – 2 hours and then 4 times a day.
In the case of nervous system disorders, dilution 15CH or 30CH depending on the case, 3 granules every 10 – 15 days. In cases of throat and nose, eye, urogenital and skin discomfort, dilute 4CH, 3 granules every 3 hours and then continue with 3 granules morning and evening for a rather long period. Finally in the case of pain, dilution D6, 3 granules or 5 – 10 drops 3 times a day.
