Today we discover the properties of the goldenrod: a plant known above all for its diuretic, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties: indicated in case of cystitis and kidney stones, it is also a natural ally of our line.
The common goldenrod (scientific name Solidago virgaurea) is a herbaceous plant that grows spontaneously in the temperate-cold zones of Europe, Asia and North America. This plant normally blooms in the summer, from July to September.
Goldenrod: a bit of history
The official botanical name of this plant derives from the Latin: Solidago indicates precisely the act of ‘consolidating’, with reference to its therapeutic properties and the use that the ancient Romans already made of it.
Conversely, virgaurea refers to the intense yellow color of its flowers. This bright yellow color reminded the ancients of the most precious metal, gold.
Gold Bullion Property
The drug formed from the flowering tops of the plant contains substances such as triterpene saponins, flavonoids, tannins and essential oil.
The goldenrod is known above all for its diuretic, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore especially indicated in cases of cystitis and kidney stones.
Thanks to its draining action, moreover, it is advisable to counteract water retention and the imperfections of cellulite, associating it with a diet rich in liquids and foods of plant origin.
But not only that: the goldenrod allows our body to burn fat and calories more quickly, cleaning the lymphatic system and therefore it is considered as a “friend of the line” plant.
Goldenrod contraindications
There are no known contraindications and particular side effects if normal therapeutic doses are taken, except for the hypothesis of individual hypersensitivity.
However, it is forbidden to take it for people suffering from particular pathologies, in particular for people with heart problems, for those suffering from allergies or for pregnant women.
As always, we recommend that you consult a doctor to find out about any precautions for use and follow a tailor-made treatment.
