Kangaroo Paw: properties, benefits and uses (Australian Flower Essence)

Kangaroo Paw is an Australian flower remedy made from Anigozanthos manglesii. Useful for improving sensitivity and kindness, it also helps to overcome the sense of inadequacy and clumsiness. Let’s find out better.

Description of the plant

Anigozanthos manglesii – the genus Anigozanthos includes ten species that all grow in southwestern Western Australia; the name of the manglesii species is in honor of the horticulturist Robert Mangles who was the first in 1833 to reproduce the plant from seeds brought to England by Sir James Stirling, first governor of Western Australia.

The flower bud is red and green, a little ripe and a little unripe, like those that need its action. When it opens, the ends fold back to reveal six golden stamens and an outstretched stylus, and in the depth of the flower lies the nectar. The common name Kagaroo Paw (kangaroo paw) derives precisely from the similarity of each flower to the foreleg of the kangaroo, with the down that encloses the petals.

The flowering stem can reach one meter in height and blooms between August and October. The plant grows spontaneously especially after bush fires (the scrubland), or after deforestation. In 1860 Kangaroo Paw was chosen as the floral emblem of Western Australia.

Property of Kangaroo Paw

  • It improves kindness, appreciation and sensitivity towards others, especially for those who tend to be careless, clumsy, unaware and not very sensitive to the needs of others when dealing with the outside. It helps to be aware of the impact of one’s behavior on others and their needs
  • It also improves the sense of inadequacy, awkwardness, clumsiness, or feeling out of place in relationships and situations, giving relaxation and a sense of relief.
  • It facilitates the best action on any occasion, helping to understand when is the right time to act and how to act, without losing the opportunities to express oneself or to do.
  • Indicated for relational immaturity from insecurity and self-depreciation, not only the immaturity of age (such as in adolescents). It gives greater ability to perceive others, to increase sensitivity and to have a good feeling in interpersonal relationships.

Kangaroo Paw is contained in the Adol Compound

Preparation and use

In a 30 ml bottle, combine ¾ of natural water and ¼ of brandy to preserve the product; add 7 drops for each chosen flower. 7 drops of this personal blend are taken under the tongue, morning and evening, upon awakening and before bed.

The drops can also be applied locally as well, combined with neutral cream as a carrier, in the bath water or vaporized in the environment to create a harmonious place.

They can also be prepared without brandy, making sure that they do not degrade (if necessary, the preparation is repeated). They can be diluted in a little water or herbal tea, even for children.
