How do you recognize patients who need Crataegus?
Typical hawthorn patients are weak and exhausted people who tend to melancholy, emotional vulnerability and despair. When mentally sluggish and confused, they often need periods of absolute quiet and seclusion. According to the use of Crataegus, they present with cardiac insufficiency and/or high pressure in the arteries. The chest appears constricted and stings. As an external sign, burning skin rashes sometimes form on the neck, on the back of the knees or under the armpits.

Hawthorn is used in potencies between D2 and D12.
Crataegus dosage
Give five globules Crataegus in the potency 4X three times a day or in the potency 30X once a day. If symptoms occur acutely, an additional dose may be administered. The remedy can be taken for a longer period of time. Constitutional therapy with Crataegus is particularly suitable for the treatment of cardiac insufficiency in elderly patients. Duration and potency for this is ideally determined individually with a homeopath.

Crataegus in pregnancy
In contrast to phytotherapeutic hawthorn preparations, the homeopathically prepared hawthorn can also be used during pregnancy. Crataegus is given to treat circulatory problems and blood pressure fluctuations and the resulting weakness. It can also be used for nervous palpitations.
In the event of sudden high blood pressure, which may indicate the beginning of a gestosis, the drug must not be taken independently before the cause of the high pressure has been clarified.
Crataegus for the baby
Crataegus can be used for a variety of heart problems in babies. The treatment should always be done in consultation with the pediatrician. Self-treatment with Crataegus is not recommended.
