How do you recognize patients who need Dioscorea villosa?
There are grueling, unbearable spasms of pain throughout the abdomen, shooting in suddenly and getting worse at intervals, accompanied by loud bowel noises and a feeling of soreness in the intestines.
The patients are nervous, have a yellow-white coated tongue, a bilious smell in their nose, and brittle fingernails. The abdomen is full of air and distended, one has to belch a lot and loosen one’s clothes. Flatulence occurs after heavy meals and after drinking tea and must be squeezed out with great effort. One doubles over in pain, experiencing no relief, only by stretching. It comes to morning, wasting diarrhea without improvement of symptoms. The male genitals are cold, the sex drive weak. One is easily excitable, often has permanent erections, feels weakened. There is aching pain in the groin that radiates into the testicles. Strong-smelling, cold, sticky sweat is secreted at the scrotum.
