Correct dosage for children
In homeopathy, especially in acute cases, medicines are not given according to the clock, but as needed. The usual dosage forms in homeopathy are tablets, drops or globules. Babies and toddlers can basically take any shape. With drops, however, you should make sure that specially non-alcoholic solutions are prepared.
Low and medium potencies are used for self-treatment. In acute cases, you can take three globules of the drug in the potency C6 or D6 up to six times a day or three globules of C12 or D12 twice a day.
If you use tablets in homeopathy for children, you should pay attention to the manufacturer’s recommendations for taking them. Drops, on the other hand, are more reserved for the treatment of chronic diseases.
For babies, dissolve the globules or tablets in a little water and spread the remedy with a spoon. Older children put the globules or tablets under the tongue, where they slowly dissolve.
If you are being treated by a homeopath, he will usually give you the right remedy with the appropriate instructions. If necessary, he will also give you advice on how to adjust the dosage over time.
When to the doctor?
Especially when treating babies and children with homeopathy, you have to be careful not to miss the right time to see a doctor. Homeopathic treatment should show a noticeable effect in a reasonable time. If this is not the case, it’s time to go to the pediatrician so as not to procrastinate.
Even if the symptoms have existed for a long time, you should have them checked out by a doctor before trying homeopathy treatment. In this way, it can be ruled out that a serious illness is overlooked.
If it is necessary to take conventional medicine, homeopathy is suitable in many cases as an adjunctive therapy. A parallel treatment of conventional medicine and homeopathy for children is supported by many paediatricians.
