Description of the plant
Staphysagria is a herbaceous plant of the Ranuncolaceous family widely used in homeopathy; it is native to the Mediterranean regions and grows wild in Europe, in some regions of Asia and in North Africa.
It can reach a height of up to 100 cm and has beautiful blue-violet flowers arranged in clusters; hairy fruits contain large seeds about the size of 5 mm, from which the homeopathic remedy is obtained.
It was once used a lot as a folk remedy for the care and elimination of lice, hence the name “lice grass” Homeopathic preparation is obtained by mixing the seeds with an equal amount of chalk and letting the powder macerate cold for a week with alcohol. The mother tincture contains oils, malic acid and a small percentage of alkaloids including Delphinine and Stafisagrina.
When using Staphysagria
Staphysagria remedy is generally used in the following main cases:
- Skin disorders, such as itching (especially in the occipital and temporal area and behind the ears), rashes, against eczema, poor sweating
- Eye disorders such as styes, circled eyes, boils
