What is veratrum viride?
Veratrum viride is prescribed in classical homeopathy mainly for states of collapse in the context of gastrointestinal infections. The patients are extremely weak, cold sweating and suffer from violent vomiting and diarrhea.
The homeopathic remedy has also proven itself in swallowing difficulties of various causes. Patients have difficulty swallowing due to esophageal spasms or inflammation of the esophagus. Sometimes the patients do not have any diseases of the esophagus, but rather a lump in their throat, which also makes it difficult for them to swallow.

To treat acute symptoms, Veratrum viride is usually administered in D potencies. Veratrum viride D6 can be taken up to three times a day and the potency D12 up to twice a day. The remedy is only taken as long as there are still symptoms. If there is improvement, the drug is no longer taken.

Veratrum viride in pregnancy

Note: Eclampsia is an emergency. The ambulance should be called immediately. In no case should this disease be self-treated.

Veratrum viride is not used in infants and young children.

Veratrum viride has proven itself in animals for the treatment of gastrointestinal catarrh. The animals suffer from vomiting and diarrhea. The homeopathic remedy is also prescribed for a loose, rattling cough that is accompanied by high fever and rapid breathing.
Side effects of Veratrum viride
So far there is no evidence of side effects when taking Veratrum viride. At the beginning of the intake and if taken too frequently, the symptoms can worsen. The remedy should then no longer be taken without consulting the treating doctor or naturopath.
