What is barium carbonicum?
In homeopathy, Barium carbonicum is particularly indicated at the beginning and end of life; here it is used for slowed mental, mental or physical states.
It is used for children with developmental delays as well as for (premature) signs of aging. Examples include late walking and speaking, Down syndrome or underdeveloped genitalia, or dementia with childish behavior, limited short-term memory, delusions and depression.
Other areas of application are constantly recurring colds with coughs, sore throats and swollen tonsils as well as fears and phobias or temporary impotence. The symptoms increase even in the slightest cold and in winter.

Dosage forms of Barium carbonicum
Barium carbonate is a very slow-acting agent with a delayed effect and must therefore be taken over several weeks or months. The usual potencies are between 4X and 8X.
Barium carbonicum dosage
A common dose is one tablet of D30 or five drops of D30 daily. At lower potencies, give three doses a day. Barium carbonicum is not an acute remedy and works very slowly. It should be taken for at least three weeks in order to be able to see the first healing successes.
Barium carbonicum during pregnancy
The beneficial effects of Barium carbonicum are concentrated on children and elderly patients. Even if typical pregnancy symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness, lack of concentration and insomnia belong to the drug picture of Barium carbonicum, the drug is not recommended for pregnant women. There are several other homeopathic remedies available for the symptoms mentioned that can easily be taken as self-medication. Barium carbonicum is generally administered during pregnancy according to expert prescription, but never independently.
Side effects of barium carbonicum
The remedy should be used cautiously and ideally after consultation with a homeopath. Improper use can cause vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, increased blood pressure and heart problems in sensitive patients.
