Hemp milk is obtained by grinding hemp seeds. Thanks to the addition of water, it will be possible to obtain a homogeneous drink. In fact, its beneficial properties are many and therefore it should be used occasionally even by those who do not want to give up a glass of “classic” milk. You don’t have to choose between one and the other. You can easily alternate hemp milk with cow’s milk.

Poor in pesticides and rich in fatty acids such as omega 3 and omega 6. The properties of organic hemp milk are many. Did you know, for example, that it contains 46% of the calcium that we will need to take daily? Cow’s milk contains only 30%.

Among other things, it is rich in protein, fiber and iron. There is also no shortage of vitamins A and vitamin E. Hemp milk is valued for its anti- inflammatory and nourishing properties. Strengthens the body by preventing various diseases.

Being 100% vegetable milk, it does not even contain hormones often given to cows. An excellent substitute for those who are allergic or intolerant to dairy products. It is an energizing drink and therefore should be consumed in the morning like a normal milk, so as to immediately have the satiating effect and find the right boost to face the many commitments of the day.

Hemp milk: how to prepare it

If you want to make hemp milk at home, you need hemp sativa seeds. So not only can you enjoy highly nutritious plant milk, but you will also have the certainty that it is 100% natural!

Finding hemp seeds is simple. If you prefer to go to a traditional store, then you can ask your herbalist if he can order them for you (they will hardly be available already). Otherwise, the option to buy on the internet is always valid, there are many specialized shops and you will not have difficulty finding the raw material to prepare your vegetable milk.

Now let’s see, step by step, the hemp milk recipe, first identifying all the necessary ingredients.


  • 200 grams of hemp seeds
  • Sweetener, if desired (e.g. agave juice )
  • 1.2 liters of water
  • A few slices of banana

Tools needed

The tools needed for preparation are a fine mesh strainer, 1 blender, 1 bowl, 1 glass bottle and 1 funnel.


  • Take the hemp seeds and pour them into the blender. Add just under half of all the water you need and if you wish, add the sweetener too.
  • Start blending, pouring the remaining water a little at a time. Continue like this for a few minutes, until the seeds are well chopped.
  • If you wish, you can also add the banana slices, so as to make the taste of your hemp milk more full-bodied.
  • Take your fine mesh strainer to strain the milk as you pour it into the bowl or bottle.

You have now completed the hemp milk preparation phase! You can drink it as it is, but it can also be a basic ingredient for homemade fruit smoothies or some desserts.

It is also advisable not to throw away the leftover “pulp” when you have filtered the milk and rather use it to create some savory recipes. It is really good and you can use it for example in the preparation of a rustic cake, biscuits or, why not, crumbly desserts.

As for the storage of hemp milk, it does not differ much from that of cow’s milk. In fact, you must keep it tightly closed in the refrigerator for a maximum of 3 days. The ideal is to keep it in a glass bottle.
