Hemp milk: how to prepare it

If you want to make hemp milk at home, you need hemp sativa seeds. So not only can you enjoy highly nutritious plant milk, but you will also have the certainty that it is 100% natural!

Finding hemp seeds is simple. If you prefer to go to a traditional store, then you can ask your herbalist if he can order them for you (they will hardly be available already). Otherwise, the option to buy on the internet is always valid, there are many specialized shops and you will not have difficulty finding the raw material to prepare your vegetable milk.

Now let’s see, step by step, the hemp milk recipe, first identifying all the necessary ingredients.

INGREDIENTS FOR 1 LITER OF MILK

  • 200 grams of hemp seeds
  • Sweetener, if desired (e.g. agave juice )
  • 1.2 liters of water
  • A few slices of banana

Tools needed

The tools needed for preparation are a fine mesh strainer, 1 blender, 1 bowl, 1 glass bottle and 1 funnel.

HOW TO PROCEED

  • Take the hemp seeds and pour them into the blender. Add just under half of all the water you need and if you wish, add the sweetener too.
  • Start blending, pouring the remaining water a little at a time. Continue like this for a few minutes, until the seeds are well chopped.
  • If you wish, you can also add the banana slices, so as to make the taste of your hemp milk more full-bodied.
  • Take your fine mesh strainer to strain the milk as you pour it into the bowl or bottle.

You have now completed the hemp milk preparation phase! You can drink it as it is, but it can also be a basic ingredient for homemade fruit smoothies or some desserts.

It is also advisable not to throw away the leftover “pulp” when you have filtered the milk and rather use it to create some savory recipes. It is really good and you can use it for example in the preparation of a rustic cake, biscuits or, why not, crumbly desserts.

As for the storage of hemp milk, it does not differ much from that of cow’s milk. In fact, you must keep it tightly closed in the refrigerator for a maximum of 3 days. The ideal is to keep it in a glass bottle.
