Homeopathic anti-inflammatories: what they are and how to use them

There are homeopathic remedies to treat inflammation, with effective effects and few contraindications. Let’s see what they are and how to use them.

Inflammation is the normal response of the human body to a possible “invasion”, of foreign bacterial or viral agents or even of cells of the body itself (we speak of “autoimmune response”).

The body puts in place a real armed defense, increasing the flow of blood, fluids and white blood cells on the affected area, in order to neutralize the invasion. Like a real war, yes! As a result, most often the symptoms of inflammation are painful and annoying.

Given that it is always necessary to investigate and treat the causes of inflammation, there are drugs (NSAIDs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) that can alleviate the symptoms and pain, but with possible side effects also harmful (drugs can have dangerous effects on the stomach and immune system.

There are equally effective natural remedies but without these side effects: homeopathic anti-inflammatories are very useful, considering that a homeopathic remedy for a “constitutional” problem (which always happens to us, to be clear) can reduce the number of attacks and improve health in general.

We must always rely on an experienced homeopath to know the remedy suitable for our disorder, the doses and the appropriate dosage. To get to know them better, in the meantime we talk about them here.

Homeopathic anti-inflammatories: what are they?

The main homeopathic remedy for inflammation is Arnica, also used in gel form for local applications. Great for muscle trauma and hematomas.

Rhus tox is excellent for painful injuries that cause stiffness – as if the joints become a rusty door – in which the pain is maximum as soon as you start moving but improves if you continue the movement. The pain reappears at the end of the movement, often in the evening, and prevents rest.

Ruta is used in situations similar to those of Rhus tox, but also after the initial swelling and heat have disappeared. It is the primary resource for persistent and repetitive tensions, such as tennis elbow.

Bryonia is used in cases where you have acute pangs, and even the slightest change in movement causes pain.

Ledum helps to treat situations, often resulting from trauma, with swelling that becomes a hematoma, mottled with purpura and feels cold and numbness. Despite the perceived sensation being cold, only ice can be applied to the lesion, as the heat aggravates the pain.

Homeopathic anti-inflammatories: how to use them?

These are effective remedies, but they must be prescribed in a personalized way by a professional homeopath who will be able to find the one that really suits you and will indicate the correct dosage to solve your problem. Also, and especially in the case of a chronic problem, which has been “haunting” you for some time.

In general, dilutions to 5CH or 9CH are used, in the form of granules, to be dissolved under the tongue, three granules three times a day or more, until the symptoms disappear.

For Arnica, on the other hand, different dilutions can also be used: low (up to 30CH) for mild pain and higher (up to 200CH and above) in cases where a large area of the body is involved, or if the pain is caused by a previous trauma.

It is advisable to take the granules away from meals, coffee and cigarettes, so that the mucous membrane of the mouth is “clean” and can best absorb the remedy.
