Lemon essence, uses and practical advice

The essential oil of lemon can be used to whiten your teeth, to strengthen the nails, to disinfect (adding a few drops in the preparation of detergents or directly into the drum), to eliminate cellulite, beauty masks, to optimize manicure… In short, the uses of lemon essential oil are numerous.

At the time of use, it is necessary to dilute the lemon essence in a carrier oil. Any essential oil, in fact, if used pure on the skin, can cause even serious irritation because it is a pure extract full of active ingredients.

For skin spots to lighten, for example, you can add 4 drops of this essence to a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and, with a cotton ball, dab in the affected area.

With less dilution, it can be used for its tonic properties and to create anti-cellulite massage lotions.

For an anti-dandruff remedy for your hair, you can dilute 5 drops of lemon essence in a tablespoon of jojoba oil.

It can be used to perfume the house, disinfect linen or simply to create a more relaxing and welcoming environment, how? Put it in a humidifier, you will have to use a drop of oil for every square meter of the room.

Lemon essential oil for internal use

The essential oil of lemon you can drink? Yes, but only if you buy a food-grade essential oil and if you have a hard time finding it, I’ll tell you where to buy it later.

For internal use, lemon essence is widely used as a natural supplement to be taken, in small quantities, on a daily basis. Even taking it orally requires dilutions, so I recommend diluting the drops of lemon essence in a drink (tea, chamomile, fruit juice, centrifuged …) or in plain water.

The essential oil of lemon, for internal use, activates and improves the immune system by stimulating the production of red and white blood cells. It has antibacterial properties and thus prevents the appearance of coughs, colds and inflammation of the oral cavity (gingivitis, canker sores, stomatitis). It is a mild sedative and for this reason it is used to relieve nervous tension. However, for this purpose, the essential oil of Lemon is more suitable, which acts as a light natural sedative.

Lemon essential oil, where to buy it

When it comes to essential oils  but in general this applies to all natural remedies, there are two factors that determine the effectiveness of the treatments; the first is the constancy of use, the second factor is quality: the active ingredients of essential oils are preserved only if the production process is followed with extreme care so as to respect the characteristics of each plant.

Not only that, if you buy a pure lemon essential oil, this is not necessarily suitable for consumption: even if the production process is the same, an essential oil born for external use is subject to fewer controls and sees a production chain. (also in terms of packaging) more elastic. For this reason, if you have bought an essential oil for external use (cheaper) you can only use it for the health of the skin even if the chemical composition is the same. Lemon essence can be purchased at a herbalist’s shop or online.
