Description of the plant
Like other members of the Proteaceae family, Old Man Banksia is adaptable, and can be found in arid soils or in inhospitable areas, but normally grows in woodland and open forests.
It can reach 17 meters in height and as it ages, it develops a massive, gnarled trunk enclosed by a dark, wrinkled and irregular bark. The leaves are stiff, glossy, dark green, 16 cm long and are regularly serrated. Towards the summer the erect, velvety and brown buds finish slowly discovering the immature silvery green spicastri; from the base along the cone, the flowers open gradually changing color from tawny-golden to orange, up to the red when they wither.
At the end only the woody cone of 8 – 16 cm remains covered by a soft short down, from dove gray to rusty red. Cones contain winged seeds that can stay on trees for years. During flowering they are very rich in nectar which attracts birds, marsupials and insects.

Preparation and use
In a 30 ml bottle, combine ¾ of natural water and ¼ of brandy to preserve the product; add 7 drops for each chosen flower. 7 drops of this personal blend are taken under the tongue, morning and evening, upon awakening and before bed.
