Homeopathy for Colds

Many people use homeopathic globules for colds. A runny or stuffy nose and sneezing, but also hoarseness, coughing and headaches are common symptoms. Homeopathy can prevent progression in the early stages of the disease and accelerate healing in an advanced cold. Read more about the use of homeopathic globules for colds!

When is homeopathy suitable for a cold?

The colloquial term cold hides an acute infection of the nasal mucosa (acute rhinitis). Viruses such as rhinoviruses or corona viruses are triggers. Adults usually get a cold several times a year. Children sniffle even more often because their immune systems are not yet fully developed.

A typical cold symptom at first is a runny nose with watery secretions. As it progresses, it slowly becomes clogged because the nasal mucosa swells. The secretion becomes more viscous. Coughs and general symptoms such as tiredness and headaches are also common.

A simple cold usually clears up in about a week. A bacterial infection can also “settle” on top of a virus-related cold. With such a bacterial superinfection, other symptoms (such as fever) and possibly also complications can occur. In this case, a doctor’s visit is urgently needed.

Homeopathy for colds at any stage

At any stage of the disease, you can take a homeopathic remedy for a cold:

An impaired general condition, exhaustion and a sore, burning sensation in the nasopharynx are often the harbingers of a cold. Globules can then possibly prevent the disease from breaking out. But even when the symptoms of the disease are fully developed, homeopathy can help with a cold: it can alleviate the symptoms and shorten the duration of the disease.

Pregnant women and old people can also take homeopathic globules for a cold without having to fear complications.

Globules for colds: baby & child

As a gentle remedy, globules are particularly suitable for colds in children. You can also give your baby a suitable homeopathic remedy for colds.

Homeopathy for proneness to infections

A special feature is the treatment of high susceptibility to infection.  Homeopathy can help if you or your child noticeably often get an infection. In this case, however, you should have the homeopathic treatment carried out by a trained homeopath.

Homeopathy for colds: dosage

If you want to use homeopathy on your own for a cold, use low potencies like 6X. If necessary, you can take three cold globules of this potency every hour, but no more than ten times a day. Let the globules melt under your tongue.

You can also use cold globules in the potency D12. You take three globules of this five to six times a day. Continue the self-treatment with the globules until you feel significantly better.

Higher potencies such as 30C, 200C or 1000C are recommended for a very bad cold and the sometimes serious complications of a formerly simple cold. However, homeopathy with such potencies should only be prescribed by trained therapists. The therapist must closely monitor the course of treatment.

Homeopathy for colds: when to see a doctor?

Common colds rarely require medical attention. However, there are some serious complications that can develop from upper respiratory tract infection. These primarily include inflammation of the middle ear, paranasal sinuses and pneumonia. These inflammations are then usually triggered by bacteria that infect the mucous membranes in addition to the viral infection (superinfection).  Symptoms that indicate such a complication are high fever, earache, headache and body aches, severe coughing and shortness of breath.

You should also consult a doctor if the cold symptoms last longer than seven days without any noticeable improvement. Even if colds keep coming back at very short intervals, you should have yourself checked out.

In the case of babies and small children, it is better to see the pediatrician earlier than too late if they have a cold. The best way to do this is to look at the general condition of your child. Whether adults or children: homeopathic globules for colds with a severe course or complications should only be used in addition to conventional medical treatment.
